Patricia Riggs

Patricia A. “Pat” Riggs, 88, passed away on April 16, 2020. Born in Miles City, Mont., to Edward and Emma (Bailey) Gavin on Nov. 24, 1931.

Pat was raised by her grandparents, Gether and Mattie (Morton) Bailey, on a farm in Forsyth, Mont. Her family later moved to North Idaho.

In Idaho she met the love of her life, James “Jim” Riggs. They married and had a daughter, Deborah “Debbie.”

Pat had many occupations; waitressing at the Brunswich (Iron Horse), credit manager for Sears, bookkeeper for Jim’s Gas Station “Exxon,” and deputy treasurer for Kootenai County.

Pat’s greatest reward was knowing her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was ever a servant; always helping. She loved children and every child was her child, whether they were young or old.

Pat was a member of the Dalton Gardens Church of Christ.

She leaves behind her daughter, Debbie (Curtis “Bumper”) Yanzick, of Cataldo, Idaho; grandson, Garrett Yanzick of Vancouver, Wash.; her sister, Deedie Beard of Coeur d’Alene; brother, Doug Ramsbottom of Post Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her uncle, Caral; sister, Evelyn; her mother; her husband and brother, Don.

A special thank you to the staff at Bristol Heights Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene and to Hospice of North Idaho.

There will be a celebration of life later, after the COVID-19 Stay-at-Home is lifted.
