Ralph Cecil Weir Jr.
August 6, 1947 – November 19, 2025 Our beloved father, Ralph Cecil Weir Jr., 78, of Spokane, Washington, passed away on November 19, 2025.
Ralph was born on August 6, 1947, to Ralph and Mary Weir and grew up in Spokane. He was the youngest of six children, he graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1965 and remained proud of his Spokane roots throughout his life.
Ralph followed in his father’s footsteps joining the Spokane Police Department and dedicated 39 years of service, a career he approached with integrity, courage, and compassion. In 1975, he earned the Washington Governor’s Twenty Award for outstanding pistol proficiency and became a certified firearms instructor, later teaching at the police academy. As his career evolved, Ralph found deep purpose working as a D.A.R.E. officer, where he connected with and influenced countless young lives, and later as a school resource officer. In 2003, his bravery was recognized with the Silver Star for his response to the Lewis and Clark High School shooting.
Beyond law enforcement, Ralph’s heart belonged to the mountains. He spent more than three decades with the Mount Spokane Ski Patrol from 1972 to 2006. He earned avalanche certifications in 1975 and 1978, served as head of security for the ski swap, and became a senior patrolman with the National Ski Patrol. One of his proudest moments came when he received the Gold and Green Merit Star for helping rescue two lost skiers during an overnight search in extreme cold conditions.
Ralph also loved golfing, riding his motorcycle, and enjoying the simple freedom those activities brought him. But above all else, Ralph’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father who took pride in teaching his children, helping them through challenges, and supporting them unconditionally. His love, guidance, and steady presence shaped their lives in countless ways. On March 1, 2023, Ralph married Margie Warwick. Their life together was marked by adventure, shared journeys, and mutual appreciation for living life fully and on their own terms.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Margie Warwick; his daughters, Jamie Strother, Erin Harada, and Kelsie Weir; his sons-in-law, Chris Strother and Gregory Harada; his daughter in law, Jen Weir; his grandchildren, Wakely and Weston Weir, Cooper Harada, and Jackson and James Myers; and his sister, Judy Lenneman. He was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Weir; his grandson, Wyatt Weir; his sisters, Joy Rupple and Mary Ann Scott; and his brothers, Michael and Larry Weir.
A memorial service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held on January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at the Holy Cross Cemetery located at 7200 N. Wall St. Spokane, WA 99208. Ralph will be remembered for his dedication to service, his love of the outdoors, his quiet strength, and most of all, the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the lessons he shared.
