It is with great sadness we announce the death of our husband and dad Rick Engan. He was born on November 19, 1957, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Judy Harty (Engan) and Eugene Engan. Rick passed away on April 30, 2026, in Post Falls, Idaho.

Rick was a devoted family man and a talented carpenter whose craftsmanship left a lasting mark across the Northwest. Over the years, his dedication and skill earned him respect in his field, culminating in his role as Superintendent for both West company and N.A. Degerstrom Bridge division. His work reflected not only his expertise but also his commitment to his family. There was never a reason to miss work, or to his kids’ dismay, school. One year after heavy snow he even rented a backhoe and plowed out the school district so his kids could get back to class.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Kim Engan; his son, Adam Engan of Post Falls; his daughter, Whitney Coe, her husband Ryan Coe of Liberty Lake; Whitney’s best friend, who he considered a second daughter, Trisha Madsen and her son Austyn Madsen of Post Falls. Brothers; Greg (Cheryl) Engan, Boyd Engan, Terry Engan, and step father Gary Witzleben. He was predeceased by his father Eugene Engan; mother Judy Witzleben; in-laws John and Renee Croy; sister Dawn McMurry; sister-in-law Shari Croy-Wandler and her husband Mike Wandler; sister-in-law Tracy Turnbull and her husband Bart Turnbull; brother-in-law Jimmy Croy; and best friend Booy Dejarlais.

Known for his tough work ethic, sense of humor, his warmth and generosity, he touched the lives of those around him. In honor of Rick’s memory, instead of flowers, please consider performing a kind deed for someone and hugging your loved ones a little tighter. The family would like to thank the friends who came to say goodbye and share stories about our dad.

At his request there will be no service.
