Robert "Bob" Earl Case Sr.

Robert “Bob” Earl Case Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, May 25th, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Born on June 3rd, 1940, to Mary Ryan and Virgil Case in Wallace, ID, Bob lived a life rich in love, hard work, and adventure.

On August 13th, 1960, Bob married the love of his life, Kathy McConville. They settled into their new home in Blackcloud and soon after welcomed their first son, Robert Jr., in 1961. Their family grew with the arrival of their second son, Virgil Dean, in 1962, and their daughter, Peggy Sue, in 1964.

Bob was a dedicated provider for his family. He began his career at the Star Mill before moving to ASARCO, where he worked tirelessly for 27 years until his retirement. However, Bob quickly discovered that retirement was not for him. After spending some time puttering around in his garage, he returned to work with the Wallace School District for another 8 years before retiring completely. His commitment to his community extended beyond his work as he served as an active volunteer member of the Shoshone Search and Rescue.

When not working or raising his family, Bob and Kathy enjoyed riding motorcycles across the country with their beloved friends. Bob had a passion for the open road, and when he wasn’t riding, he could often be found in his garage, shining his motorcycle or ATV with his favorite country music playing in the background.

Bob cherished his role as a grandfather, welcoming many grandchildren: Kelly Frey, Jessica Rasmussen, Jessica Case, Starla Sandau, Stephanie Roy, and Shilo Case. His family continued to grow with the addition of 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Jessica Case, grandson Kelly Frey, and brothers-in-law Skip McConville, Harry McConville, and Luther Cowart. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Kathleen Case; his son Robert and daughter-in-law Betty Jo; his son Virgil Dean; his daughter Peggy; and all his remaining grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating Bob’s life on August 10 at Gene Day Park at 2pm. Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
