Roy Koester

Roy Francis Koester, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend went home to be with his Lord & Savior on 11/19/2020. Born in North Dakota, he came to Coeur d' Alene at a young age with all nine of his siblings. He made God's country his home where he spent much of his time getting to know every mountain road and trail in our surrounding area.

Most of his education was at the St. Thomas Catholic school here in Coeur d' Alene. Roy spent his early years in service to his country. Upon leaving the service he traveled a little before returning home to Coeur d’ Alene where he worked in construction and finally retiring from Kaiser Aluminum.

His family was his greatest source of pride and the center of his life. He worked hard to provide for his family so they could have a better life than he had.  Roy is survived by his wife, Nancy of 49 years, his son Jeremy and wife Jennifer, their daughters Miya and Alex, his son Jason and Jason's son, Tristan. His love for them was unmeasurable.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the service will be at the graveside.
His final resting place will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington and in the arms of His Lord where he is now free of illness, pain, and sadness.  His family is comforted knowing he is resting in peace and wishes to thank all who have sent their prayers. Also, a special note of appreciation for the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Hospice of North Idaho for their care. A special recognition and gratitude for those employees at Brookdale who took time from their busy day to stop and visit with him during the isolation caused by COVID-19. In addition, deep appreciation for allowing his family to be by his side his last few days. He will be deeply missed.
