Roy “Keith” McMahan was born April 24, 1964 in Taft, California, and passed away March 4, 2024 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after a brief illness. He was 59.
Keith grew up in Taft where he held a love for the game of baseball, playing in several local baseball and softball leagues. He also developed an appetite for motorsports, riding dirt bikes and becoming involved in the area’s robust auto racing community. After graduating from Taft Union High School, his passion for machines led him to attend the prestigious diesel mechanics program at Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, where he graduated with honors.
In June 1984, Keith wed the former Kelly Mills and they settled in Bakersfield, California. He enjoyed a thriving career as a mechanic with several diesel companies before he and Kelly launched their own business, On Site Fleet Services, in 1996. They successfully operated the business for over a decade before selling in late 2007.
Early in 2010, the couple relocated to Idaho, eventually settling in Post Falls. Keith enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid golfer. He was also active in local causes, including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Keith is survived by the love of his life, Kelly; a sister, Jenny Robison of Rising Star, Texas; a brother, Paul McMahan of Taft, California; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy; mother, Minnie; older brother, William; and brother-in-love, Larry Robison.
Keith touched and blessed the lives of all he came in contact with and will be missed by his family and many friends.
Services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11 am at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, with internment to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Post Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Keith’s honor to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 1260 N. Compton St., Post Falls, ID, 838654.
