Sheila Marie Kelly (nee Crotty) passed away Jan. 11, 2024, after a courageous and tenacious battle against cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, generosity and unwavering independence. Her life was a testament to living authentically on her terms and embracing the freedom to be herself. If you were lucky enough to be in her life, you knew how selfless and generous she was, and you were the better for it.

Independent and firm, Sheila navigated life with a remarkable spirit that inspired those around her. She approached challenges with resilience, always standing firm in her convictions. Yet, beneath her strong exterior, Sheila possessed a heart of gold, displaying generosity without reservation. Her acts of kindness were countless and her compassion touched the lives of many.

When you visited Sheila’s house, you never left empty-handed, whether it was a container of her famous homemade spaghetti sauce or a gift that she had found and saved just for you. Sheila found genuine joy in giving and sharing with everyone she met. She was fiercely loyal, honest and kind.

Sheila was born in Tacoma, Wash., on Aug. 27, 1955, and is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Patrick Kelly; her sisters, Colleen Crotty-Corcoran and Kelly Crotty-Thurman (husband Dustin); her brothers, Dan Crotty (wife Marla) and Brian Crotty (wife Cindy); her daughters, Tamara Kelly and Genevieve Alexander (husband Drew); her grandchildren, Jackson, Juliette, Saoirse and Bodie; and countless close friends, including Raeanne Capaul, Kyler Brabeck, Lisa Shaw and several nieces and nephews. Sheila is preceded in death by her father, Bill Crotty; her mother, Edith Michelson; and her brother, Sean Crotty.

Sheila was a Senior Underwriter for Old Republic Mortgage and Medallion Mortgage Co. before moving on to create Rat Dog Research, LLC with her husband and business partner. She expected high performance but had the patience and kindness to teach others how to succeed. Because of Sheila's generosity and dedication to mentoring others, countless individuals now pursue successful careers.
