Sunny Fagan

Sunny Lee Fagan 85 passed away at home on August 3, 2019 after a battle with breast cancer.  She was born in Hebron, ND to Lena and Gus Schmidt. She moved to Denver CO, where she met the love of her life Walter Fagan in 1950.   Walter and Sunny loved to travel, they traveled all over the United States sharing the experiences with their children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren.  Hawaii was one of Sunny’s favorite places.

Walter and Sunny operated a Square Dance Hall in Southern California for a number of years.  Sunny had made a wealth of wonderful friends throughout the years. She later worked in the local schools as a lunch aide.

Sunny was an avid volunteer through the years.  She volunteered at the Coeur d'Alene Food Bank, Post Falls Senior Center and various churches in our community.  Sunny was known around the Coeur d’ Alene area as the “Tab Lady” going all over to collect tabs to give the proceeds to the Cancer Centers.  She worked very hard for donations to help people with Cancer. She was a very proud Cancer Survivor for well over 20 years attending Relay for Life.

Being a Charter Member of the Red Hat Flappers of Post Falls, Sunny had put together a number of activities to raise money for various programs in the Kootenai County.  One of the very first fashion shows, she raised money for mammograms. Sunny was known as the Queen of Fun for the activities she put together for her Red Hatters.

Sunny is preceded in death  by her loving husband Walter.  She is survived by her children Michael & Lulu Fagan, Charlie & Debbie Fagan, Sandra Miller, Sunny & Randy Chaney as well as her Grandchildren Greg & Rosie Fagan, Cheryl Fagan, April & Kevin Chaney, Mike & Mina Fagan, Julie Fagan, Brandon & Danielle Chaney, Timothy & Gina Mezin, Lacy & Matthew Hart.  Sunny was Great Grandmother to 16 and Great Great Grandmother to 3, and brothers Gary Schmidt (Mary) and Jay Schmidt (Pam).

A Memorial for Sunny Lee Fagan will be held on Sunday August 11th at 1 pm at the Hospice of North Idaho Community Services Building 2290 W Prairie Ave, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
