Tammra (“Tammy”) Douglas, 63, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on May 1, 2025, after a courageous 10-month battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held at Real Life Ministries (Building 2) on May 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a potluck reception. Friends and family are invited to bring a dish—and a favorite memory to share.
Tammy was born on June 13, 1961, in Ballard, Washington, to Edgar Nelson and Georgia Anderson. She lived in Seattle, Yakima, and Osburn before settling in Post Falls, where she spent the last 37 years of her life.
She married John “Dave” Douglas on June 14, 1980, in Edmonds, WA. Tammy dedicated 22 years to the Idaho Department of Corrections, retiring in 2017 as a section supervisor for adult felony probation and parole.
A passionate triathlete, Tammy completed dozens of races, including the Coeur d’Alene Ironman and the Boston Marathon. Outside of training, she cherished road trips with Dave and friends, time with her children and grandchildren, tending her garden, and baking. She was known for her legendary sourdough breads, cinnamon rolls, and the Christmas cookies she joyfully shared with others. Most years she made enough cookies to be giving them away as late as March.
Tammy was strong, determined, and deeply committed to the people she loved. She had a servant’s heart—volunteering with children at several churches—but her greatest devotion was to her family. If Tammy said she would do something, you could count on her to follow through.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dave Douglas; her children and their spouses, Sheena and Jessy Todd, Jacob and Melissa Douglas, and Trista and Erik Hayton; her beloved grandchildren, Carter, Emmy, Hudson, Asher, Ayla, Haddie, and Aria; her mother, Donna Nelson; and her siblings, Kirk Nelson, Eric Nelson, Kelly Bentz, and Heather Bintliff.
