Thomas Russell

Thomas “Tom” G. Russell, 78, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away November 17, 2020 with his wife by his side at Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House, due to Alzheimers.

He was born May 29, 1942, to George “Kelly” and Mildred (Taie) Russell, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Being an Idaho native and growing up in Coeur d’Alene he enjoyed hunting and fishing from a very young age.

He married the love of his life Penny Benson, August 31, 1961. Together they had two daughters, Lori and Lisa. They loved traveling to Reno, the Oregon Coast and Maui. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum after 34 years in 2000. After retirement he enjoyed grabbing a coffee with Penny and going for a drive. He loved Gonzaga Basketball and was an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners and Idaho Vandals.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Mildred Russell: sisters, Bonnie Caswell and Gwen Hazelton. He is survived by his loving wife, Penny: daughter Lori (Casey) Latuseck; daughter Lisa (Mark) Goodwin; sister Judy Krum; brother in-law Rich Hazelton; brother in-law Bob Benson; brother in-law Ben Benson. Also surviving are five granddaughters: Valerie (Gerald Branham) Hendrickson, Kathryn (Cory) Arrand, Brittany (Tyler) Haug, Chelsea(Ty Biondo) Latuseck, Kristina (Shanika Sawyer) Goodwin; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2020 at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way in Coeur d’Alene, ID, (masks and social distancing are recommended). There will be a celebration of life summer 2021.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at Wellspring Meadows for the care and love they gave him.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House or The Children’s Village.
