Vernon W. Castle,87, of Hayden passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. In 1954 Vernon married Janet Crain; they would have celebrated their 69th Anniversary on March 1st. After six years of marriage, their first child, Mark was born followed by Denise and Rex. Family was very important to Vernon, and he always had a fun adventure planned. Vernon had a love for the outdoors.
He was a sought after logger who was skilled in all areas from falling timber, skidding logs, driving truck, and especially loading logs with his crane. He also worked 6 years for Coeur d’Alene Crane before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman who often caught his limit. But most of all, he enjoyed being on the water in his boat with family sharing stories. One of his deepest passions was attending his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sports games.
