Eugene “Gene” Daniel Betts (87) of Hayden Lake, Idaho passed into peace on May 28th, 2021 at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho after an 8 year long battle with cancer. He was born to Alma and Glen Betts on February 21st 1934 in Southwick, Idaho.
Gene was a loving, hard working person who always made time to help and support family and friends. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time telling stories with friends while they played cards.
In 1953, Gene married Rose Wilson in Lewiston, Idaho and they shared 67 years together.
In 1959, Gene joined the Idaho State Patrol in Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1961, he transferred to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to the port of entry for the Idaho State Patrol. Gene was the commanding officer of the port of entry when he retired in 1986 after serving the Idaho community for 27 years.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Alma and Glen Betts and his sister Adella, and her husband, Don Christensen.
Gene is survived by his wife Rose Betts, children Gail Kilian of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jay, and his wife, Amy Betts of Lakewood, Washington, and grandchildren Maxwell Kilian of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Emily Betts of Lexington, Kentucky.
