Pam Marie Gerger

1954 - 2021

Pam Gerger was born April 26, 1954, to Barney and Caroline (nee Selzer) Gerger in Minot, N.D. She was raised on the family farm until her parents headed west for a better future in 1962. Pam attended St. Thomas and St. Pius Church Schools and IHM Academy until its closure in 1971 and graduated from CHS in 1972.

Pam met Vince Saunders in 1989 and together they had the joy of her life — son Rory. Pam was a great mother and a loving companion to Vince for almost 32 years.

Pam held several jobs, including at the City of Dalton Gardens, and ended her career at Public Employees Credit Union, retiring in 2017.

Pam loved to walk the beautiful city of Post Falls where she resided with Vince, often four or more miles each day. She was a tiny, little gal whose big heart was enjoyed by all who knew her.

Pam will be especially missed by Vincent, Rory, and Kayla, along with her son, Mavrick, and her siblings, along with many other family members.

Pam is now back in the loving arms of her mother, Caroline, and father, Bernard, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include husband, Vincent; son, Rory (Kayla and Mavrick); sisters, Sheila (Alan) Childers, Jane (Scott) Lenz, Peggy (George) McDonald, Mary Kay (Rodney Norman); brothers Steven (Lori) Gerger, Mark (Gwen) Gerger and Dennis (Lori) Gerger; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St George's Catholic Church in Post Falls on Monday, April 19, 2021.

Pam Gerger, we are here to honor you. We are here to offer loving support to Vince, Rory, Kayla, sweet Maverick as well as her welcoming and generous brothers and sisters, their spouses, her nieces, nephews and friends.

Pam was in many ways such a perfectly balanced person. Although small in physical stature, she was expansive in love. She had a large, formative presence in all of our lives. Pam had a calm, soothing accepting presence. Never the seeker of the spotlight, rather she was the wise quiet person at the side offering love and acceptance. It is in these quiet reflective ways, her family could count on her unwavering love, support and loyalty. Another paradox was Pam - she was a world traveler, yet she was remarkably home centered. In earlier years she traveled all over the world. In more recent years her travels were simpler. She loved the beautiful trails and nature walks closer to home. Pam enjoyed the comforts of home nurturing Vince and the light of her heart and soul, Rory.
On our drive out to Idaho, I saw more eagles than I have ever seen. Eagles soaring majestically over the wide expanse of God’s beautiful country - flying with ease, feeling the lift of the wind currents beneath their powerful wings. However, as we approached Coeur d’ Alene and Post Falls, more often I saw nesting eagles protectively looking outward and tending to their nest. I can’t help but reflect on Pam, who is now gracing our skies, soaring with health and majesty and returning to the nest up high to tend protectively to her loved ones. I think of Rory, as he said, “She always had my back.” No truer sentiment can be more beautifully expressed as Pam would want it spoken in simple, honest terms. As we leave here today, keep your eyes upon the skies as your feet move ever forward. You’ll see eagles soaring with health and confidence. You’ll also see them perched protectively in a nest or in quiet reflection. Remember Pam, and offer up a prayer for her love and courage. And send up a prayer for Vince and Rory who will forever miss her physical presence, yet will always feel her guiding love, she will always be with us. Just as she felt Jesus and his guiding love as he came for her and gently carried her home.
